PARTING WITH POLISH IN 3 EASY STEPS
As we embark on a new season, I was determined to establish some order to my makeup collection, starting with my nail polish. I have settled with the fact that I, a polish lover and enthusiast, am not in need of so many colors in order to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. I'm not trying to get deep, but anytime I do my nails, I spend 30 minutes picking out a color, just to select the same ones over and over again. It's quite sad looking at the barely opened glass pots of paint. Untouched. Unloved. With that said, the time has come to pitch them into the trash. Heartless, I know, but oh well. They're taking up valuable shelf space. So... here it is: Minimize your Makeup Collection, pt. une: Parting with Polish IN 3 STEPS!
1. It's the same red!
Why on God's green Earth do you own the same polish more than once? It's the same exact polish you guys. Same brand, same number. It's not limited edition... you just accidentally bought it twice. Yeah I've done this at least 3 times. Into the trash, hunny bunnies. We don't need it.
2. I'm more of an Autumn.
I know we're in another experimental age of, wear what you want to wear, confidence is key, era, but naahhhhh..... I know for a fact that I refuse to apply that lime green polish to my nails. It may work for you, but not for me. I'm more of a nudes in the summer, and deep reds and maroons in the fall --Know thy palette. So, if I know that it looks dreadful, it's got a one way ticket to the trash bin. Ta-ta!
"KNOW THY PALETTE."
3. Eww that's nasty
Find all of your gunky and mucky colors and examine them. Whip out your phone and take pictures of the colors and names of the polishes you use so often, that it looks like toxic waste. Then pitch that *itch in the trash! Go to the store and replace the one's you actually wear.
My current polish situation...
Since the polish purge, my selection is perfect for me. Just in case you want a peek at the polish colors, these are my recommendations.
Got any purging tips you'd like to share? Want to me to throw away some more of my stuff? Sound off and tell me what you have in mind in the comments!
Until next time,
